As a viewer theres a sense they had too much material for two films but not enough for a fully fledged third and as a result we get an unbalanced film that was slightly hard to follow with a much slower pace.
Its not completely without merit as a entertaining addition to the thrilling crime saga but it suffers as the weaker installment. Lau is perhaps partly to blame for this because I thought he was buttoned a bit too tight - it was understandable in some regards but the third film should have been the point where he shows more of a breakdown (which he does, but again it is events rather than emotion).
