The Chumscrubber Movie Review Summary Actors: Jamie Bell, Camilla Belle, Justin Chatwin, Glenn Close, William Fichtner, Rita Wilson, Ralph Fiennes, Carrie-Anne Moss, Allison Janney, Rory Culkin Detailed plot synopsis reviews of The Chumscrubber Okay, it's hardly deep or particularly original. An insufferable, self-conscious cult movie, The Chumscrubber smugly heaps on half-baked ideas about media violence, the homogeneity of suburbia and the disintegration of the American family. Yet director Arie Posin seems unaware of the Donnie Darkos, Edward Scissorhandses and American Beauties out there, so convinced is he of his own movieâs cleverness and originality. Great acting.

The adults live in the over sanitised, prescription based world, blinkered to only their problems, whereas the teenagers seem to be living in the harsh real world, striving for some of that medicinal assistance to lift themselves rather than to sanitise their surroundings. Glenn Close is a bereaved mother determined not to crack her usual cheerfulness; Allison Janneyâs a housewife desperate to break her cycle of pot roasts; and Ralph Fiennes is a loopy mayor re-embracing life through swimming pools, so simpering you wish heâd just hold himself under until the bubbles stop. The Chumscrubber came out of nowhere to be in my opinion one of the most different and intriguing movies of 2005. I really liked this movie and I hope you do too!
(Starring an actor from *"Chumscrubber"*?!) A tragic waste of acting talent, with nothing new to say. NY 10036. Maybe it was the name, or maybe it was the impressive cast list? Whatever the reason, it left a profound impact on me. I had the opportunity to attend the opening screening of "The Chumscrubber" at the Sundance Festival. If I had one gripe about this movie is that it loses direction every so often. May become a classic. And it features yet another excellent performance from Jamie Bell. Love love love this movie. An insufferable, self-conscious cult movie, The Chumscrubber smugly heaps on half-baked ideas about media violence, the homogeneity of suburbia and the disintegration of the American family. In this surreal depiction of life in the 'burbs, every individual is completely self-absorbed and numb to the outside world. Very creative and quirky. The characters are very poorly developed, and intentionally so. Average. Although DD is a really good movie it's totally about two different things. It's unexpected and fresh. as complacent as its Hillside denizens, unfortunately spawning the very mindset it rails against. If you find yourself noticing the blue eyeliner on "Crystal's" eyes so much you have to draw only one conclusion -- the story is SO boring, that I'm watching the chick's eyeliner. He's also in the current / 2005 5-hour "King Kong" re-make (won't be seeing that, but kudos to those who recognized his talent)) is wonderful, and one of the most gifted young actors out there.
